What is a pallet cage?

A pallet cage is a metal load carrier based on the dimensions of a Euro pallet, extended into an enclosed box by a surrounding mesh frame made of steel wire or steel profiles. The standard footprint measures 1,200 × 800 mm, with height varying depending on the design. Pallet cages are manufactured in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4115 and related standards, enabling interchangeability and stacking compatibility within returnable packaging cycles. In everyday use, the term is often shortened to "mesh box".
