Data from the packing line: From efficiency to void fill rate – live with Ranpak

What's it about?
Your packing line knows more than you think. An automated line consists of several components, and when used correctly, they deliver valuable data on two levels. On one hand, they show in black and white how well you're really performing and where the investment pays off. On the other hand, the same data is becoming increasingly relevant for the PPWR: from August 2026, there will be a mandatory requirement to limit packaging to the necessary minimum and to document this; from 2030, fixed upper limits for void space in shipping packaging will be added. Ranpak uses concrete real-world examples to show how key metrics such as throughput, error rates or the void fill rate per box can be captured and used in day-to-day operations.
This webinar is part of the series "PPWR and Packaging Automation".
Further events in this series:
- PPWR after the initial shock: What really matters now – live with Max Haschke (Monday, 05.10.2026): Max Haschke clarifies what was justified in the initial PPWR panic and what has since been put into perspective, and provides concrete next steps.
- Packaging machines at a glance: Which automation is worthwhile for whom? (Tuesday, 06.10.2026): XPROMA provides an overview of common automation technologies in packaging and shows you how to find out what you actually need.
- Box Last Packaging: How a custom-fit shipping box is made and what this means for the PPWR (Friday, 09.10.2026): CMC shows how the box-last approach works technically, when it pays off and what role it can play for the PPWR.
Why you should join
- you want to know what data your automated packing line actually generates and how to make use of it
- you're wondering which metrics tell you whether your automation is really paying off
- you have the PPWR void space limit in the back of your mind and want to know what already applies now and what only comes into effect in 2030
- you want to know how to actually measure the void space in your boxes
What you'll take away from the talk
- concrete real-world examples of throughput and packing efficiency improvements – from tripled throughput to 5x packing efficiency
- a realistic assessment of the payback period (typically 1–3 years)
- clarity on what already applies under the PPWR void space rule and what only comes into effect in 2030
- an overview of which metrics a packing line delivers and what you can use them for
Speakers
- Torben Schultze, Sales Director at Ranpak
- Moderator: Andreas Löwe, CEO of even
