From Excel Chaos to Scalable Fulfillment – Answers from the even Webinar with storelogix & Cella
Covering the most interesting questions on configuration, updates, and go-live speed.

In a nutshell: When Nico Brüggemann joined Cella in 2018, much of the work was still done by hand. The company had just been acquired out of insolvency, workflows were highly individual, data ran through VBA-based Excel spreadsheets, and every employee had their own way of doing things. The initial instinct was to develop a proprietary warehouse management system – a requirements document of 500 pages was even drafted.
But the market was evolving faster than the development cycles. Cella changed course and looked for a system that grows with the company rather than holding it back.
That was the beginning of the partnership with storelogix: a setup flexible enough to accommodate new client requirements while structured enough to allow a growing fulfillment business to scale without complex custom development.
During the even Webinar with Holger Meinen, Managing Director at storelogix / common solutions GmbH & Co. KG, and Nico Brüggemann, Managing Director at Cella GmbH, it quickly became clear how much interest there was in this combination. Participants submitted a large number of very specific questions in the chat – covering project timelines, upgrade capability, pricing, change requests, and day-to-day collaboration. We have compiled the most important questions and answers here.

What is a realistic timeframe for a project from kick-off to go-live – without automation?
Holger (storelogix): Our standard market approach is six weeks. If processes are clearly defined and the client is actively involved, that's realistic.
Nico (Cella): In our case it was even faster: we went live in three weeks. We had clear, straightforward processes and made a hard cut – a complete switch with no transition phase.
How quickly do you onboard new e-commerce clients?
Nico (Cella): Once all the data is available – carrier details, item master data, address data – we're talking a matter of hours. A client account can be set up in 20 minutes, data is imported, and testing starts immediately. Often the limiting factor is that goods don't arrive as quickly as the system is ready to go.
Can we talk briefly about updates? How long does a deployment take, and is it fully automated?
Holger (storelogix): Yes, updates run automatically. Our SLAs include a maintenance window on Sundays from 12:00 to 21:00. Once a release has been successfully tested with the pilot client, it is rolled out to all other systems at the push of a button. This takes a few hours – nothing more.
How is storelogix pricing structured?
Holger (storelogix): Very straightforward: we use a user license model. The minimum license covers 10 users, and everything is included:
- Onboarding
- Training
- Infrastructure
- Hosting
- Database
- Change Requests
- Support
Additional users can be added or removed flexibly – even on a daily basis, for example during peak periods. Payment only begins once the warehouse is live in production.
How does the system remain upgradeable if the client configures a lot themselves?
Holger (storelogix): Configuration is not programming. Even if a client configures extensively on their own, the Solution remains fully upgradeable, because we deliver a product with an identical codebase and identical database structure for all clients. Configurations are not overwritten by updates.
How do you ensure that a change request for one client doesn't affect the standard processes of others?
Holger (storelogix): A change request rarely replaces a process – it extends it. New features become controllable via options in the interface. Clients can choose whether to use the new or the existing screens. For larger changes, both versions run in parallel for a period of time.
How did Cella manage to configure the software independently? Does that require formal training or is it more learning by doing?
Nico (Cella): No extensive training needed. storelogix is built so that modules and features can be activated or deactivated with a click: batch configurations, packing stations, picking logic, and much more. What matters is having someone on the team who can think about operational and system processes together.
Are processes in storelogix pre-configured, or is everything built from scratch for each project?
Holger (storelogix): We start with a pre-configured live system that immediately covers the full flow from goods receipt to goods issue. This means the client can see their processes in the system from the very first workshop. We then collaboratively configure the final workflows needed for go-live.
Conclusion: Scalability Without Complexity
The even case study with storelogix and Cella shows how much speed is unlocked when standardization and configuration work together effectively. Less custom programming doesn't mean less flexibility – it often means significantly more.
Anyone looking for modular logistics processes, rapid onboarding, and clear upgrade capability will find a Solution here that is just as robust in day-to-day operations as it is in the project phase.
