In a Kardex Miniload-in-a-Box, a moving mast with a telescopic gripper operates in an aisle running through the center of a multi-tier racking system. The control unit activates the gripper, which retrieves a tote and transports it to the picking station. While the operator picks the order, the next tote or tray is being prepared in the background and placed on the rear shelf of the turntable. As soon as the operator has finished picking an order, the turntable rotates 180 degrees and the next tote is ready for picking. The Kardex Miniload-in-a-Box connects seamlessly to existing conveyor systems – either for manual storage and retrieval of totes and trays, or for fully automated operation and handover to the existing material flow. The connection can be made at the front, right, or left side. The system is designed to keep totes in constant motion in order to process orders automatically and increase picking performance. Replenishment can also be handled automatically.
