From 0 to 34K Followers: Tim Jaschke's LinkedIn Success

In a nutshell: Many of us spend hours on LinkedIn – whether for inspiration, networking, or simply out of habit. Yet a clear strategy for becoming truly visible is often missing. That's exactly what Andreas discusses in this episode with Tim Jaschke, Managing Director of Werbung mit WUMMS GmbH and a LinkedIn professional with over 34,000 followers. Tim has made LinkedIn his stage – but not with videos, rather with text. Why he deliberately goes against the video hype and how he generates leads with words is what he reveals in this conversation.

Text over video: Why Tim sticks to classic posts

While many social media experts preach that video content is the key to success, Tim stays true to his proven strategy: well-written text with a clear message. His motto? Don't throw out what's working just because a new trend comes along. Text performs well because it's easy to consume on LinkedIn – especially when paired with strong headlines that invite readers to keep reading.

Strategy over aimless posting

Tim emphasizes that many LinkedIn users post without a concept or simply consume content without really thinking about their own positioning. His advice: Clearly define what goals you want to achieve with your posts. His own strategy is built on two core objectives:

  1. Lead generation – potential clients should notice him through his content and ideally book an appointment.
  2. Positioning as a thought leader – staying visible through expertise and personal insights.

To achieve this, he combines attention-grabbing posts with in-depth expert content to attract new followers and retain them over the long term.

What makes a great LinkedIn headline?

"The first sentence determines everything," says Tim. LinkedIn users scroll fast – and if the headline doesn't grab them, the post goes unread. His success formula for great headlines:

✔ Short and punchy: A maximum of five to eight words for mobile readers.
✔ Emotional and curiosity-driven: "The shocking truth about copywriting" works better than "Tips for better writing."
✔ No clickbait: The headline should deliver on its promise.

Artificial intelligence: curse or blessing for content?

Tim also uses AI tools like ChatGPT, but with a clear strategy. His advice: "Train the AI on your own texts so it learns your voice." Many posts feel interchangeable because they're copied directly from AI output. Anyone who wants to stand out should bring personality to the table.

Call to action: The underrated key to conversion

Even though many LinkedIn posts are entertaining or informative, many creators miss the opportunity to motivate their readers to take action. A strong call to action (CTA) makes all the difference:

📌 Integrated natively into the post, rather than clumsily tacked on at the end.
📌 Relevant to the topic – no generic "Share your opinion in the comments."
📌 Smart placement in the PS, as this section often receives particular attention.

LinkedIn isn't a perfect business platform – but it works

The episode closes with a provocative statement: "LinkedIn is just a bad Instagram for business." Tim sees it similarly – but that's precisely why it works. People don't just post professional content; they also share polarizing opinions and personal achievements. Ego plays a role – and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Anyone who wants to use LinkedIn professionally needs a clear strategy, the confidence to show personality, and an understanding of how the platform works. And above all: great text that hits the nerve of the target audience.
