5 Tips from SNOCKS for a Successful Sales Event

In a nutshell: Sales events are a proven strategy for boosting revenue and driving demand in the short term. However, the significantly higher order volumes during these discount campaigns put logistics to the test. Even so, at SNOCKS we manage to maintain our 1–3 day shipping times 95% of the time, even during events with over 100,000 orders. How? With these 5 proven measures:

1. Early Forecasting

An accurate forecast is the foundation of a smooth sales event. At least 6–8 weeks before the start, we go through the targeted order numbers with our fulfillment partner. Based on this forecast, order volume is planned as precisely as possible on a daily basis. This allows the fulfillment partner to prepare for the traffic well in advance and adjust capacities accordingly.

2. Staff Planning

A solid forecast forms the basis for optimal staff planning. For an intensive sales event with a high volume of orders over just a few days, we rely on a three-shift model that keeps operations running around the clock. For longer campaigns, such as a promotional week, a two-shift model is often sufficient. The key is ensuring enough staff is available to handle the surge.

3. Consumables

A smooth operation only works when everything needed is on hand. That's why we make sure that consumables such as packaging, labels, and the like are available in sufficient quantities — including a buffer for unexpected peaks.

4. Pickup Frequency

A common stumbling block at large sales events is the collection of parcels by shipping service providers. To prevent the warehouse from overflowing with completed orders, we increase the pickup frequency. At the same time, we ensure that enough roll cages and docking bridges are available to speed up processes.

5. Post-Event Processing

After every major sales event, there are naturally more returns as well. To stay on top of this, after the event we shift part of the additional staff from the outbound area (shipping) to returns management. This allows us to handle post-event processing efficiently and remain fully operational.

With these measures, SNOCKS successfully manages even large and intensive sales events while keeping our shipping times consistent. Planning, flexibility, and a great team make all the difference — ensuring our customers remain satisfied even during our biggest campaigns.
