A Tote-to-Person (TTP) system is a specialized automation solution for warehouses in which autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) transport individual bins of goods directly to operators at picking stations. Unlike Shelf-to-Person systems, where entire racks are moved, the TTP system brings only the required bins. This enables more efficient use of both vertical and horizontal storage space, as the racks remain stationary and can be built to greater heights without needing to be moved regularly. The system supports rack heights of up to 11 meters and double-deep storage, enabling a significant increase in storage capacity — up to five times that of conventional warehousing methods. In a direct comparison with other automation technologies, the system offers companies additional advantages in terms of flexibility and cost-effectiveness. AMRs can replace fixed installations and adapt the warehouse layout to changing requirements. The P40 robot saves space by driving underneath racks. The system is robust and ensures continuous operation even in the event of failures. It can buffer high-demand items in the lowest rack level to accelerate the picking process and streamline tasks. There is also the option to perform automatic inventory optimization during idle periods or overnight.
